Support for Making Decisions

Within the division, the area dedicated to support for making decisions plays an important role.

In this division, tools are made to help make decisions in management systems in good time for planning future short term or long term processes or operations. When it comes to the field of research related to the support for making decisions, we must mention the fact that there are currently two different concepts within this area: the first is planning and the second is real time management, also called command and control. The first seeks to arrange the tasks that will take place in the future with the intent of reaching certain objectives. In the second, the tasks happen in the present and a decision must be made quickly. Nowadays and due to the use of systems that operate in real time, both concepts are mixed and there is very little distinction between its operating procedures, although there is at the time when events happen.

In this area of knowledge, EUVE currently has various lines of research related to short term planning or tactical planning and long term planning or strategic planning. Likewise we are researching to come up with methodologies in order to build intelligent models in the field of planning.

Experience in this field has enabled EUVE to successfully build models in both facets of planning.
